5 Reasons Why Fall In Northern California is Visit-Worthy!

Get ready and come to Mendocino! Join us in celebrating the amazing Fall season. Soothe your body and soul and saturate your senses with nature’s beauty and gifts of harvest during our Fall Festivals.

For mushroom lovers there is nothing better than the Mendocino Mushroom Festival spanning the first two weeks of November. This nine-day culinary experience also features activities like cooking classes, history tours, and local beer tastings. Throughout Mendocino County, Inns and Restaurants offer delicious mushroom-based dishes, plus you can meet the chefs and winemakers and learn from the culinary experts themselves! There are 500 edible fungi to be found in our diverse landscape like chanterelle, candy cap, porcini and hedgehog. If you like, you can forage your own mushrooms during one of the expert-tours. To see a detailed list of events, check out the Mushroom Festival Events Calendar.

At the Albion River Inn, our award-winning chef prepares special culinary delights of freshly foraged fungi paired with exceptional estate wines from our famous collection (including beers and distilled spirits). Enjoy your favorite meal while overlooking the majestic Pacific Ocean.

Learn mushroom lore with Naturalist and Mycologist, Mario Abreu at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens Mushroom Identification Walk – each Monday, November 4th through December 23rd at 1:30 PM.

“The Gardens is home to more than 150 species of mushrooms during fall and winter on the Mendocino Coast. Mushrooms are the fruiting bodies of some types of fungi. Normally hidden underground, these reproductive structures lie dormant until now –   November/December, when they sprout above the earth.”

Attend the yearly Mushroom Brunch at Pennyroyal Farm in Boonville (11:30 am Sunday, November 3, 2019).
