Newly Landscaped Wedding Site at Albion River Inn: May 2008
Albion River Inn is blessed with a picture perfect, ocean front setting. This May we landscaped the lovely lawn terrace adding a series of wide fieldstone steps from the upper lawn to the lower lawn terrace, making it an even more versatile and intimate site for ceremonies and receptions. We laid a new, lush lawn, and added more colorful flowers. The roses are blooming along the cliffs edge, the sky and sea are blue, the air is fresh, and Albion River Inn is a great place to tie the knot.
Come to the Coast to Escape the Smoke: July 2008
The fire season started off with an unfortunate bang with lightning strikes igniting many fires throughout the state. Luckily, the Mendocino Coast and Albion River Inn are not near the fires, or affected by the smoke, thanks to our cool ocean breezes. We invite you to visit us and enjoy some fresh air and white water views. We're open for dinner nightly and our cuisine, wines, and ocean front accommodations will remind you what the good life is all about. Call 1-800-479-7944 for reservations.
California Wine Tasting Championships: California Wine Tasting Championships
July 26, and 27, 2008
Greenwood Ridge Winery, Anderson Valley, Philo California
People come from all over the state to take part in this fierce but fun competition. Or, if your too shy to try your luck, you can stand on the sidelines with friends, and egg on the contestants while you sip some good wine. Either way, this weekend event features live music, tasty food, great wines, and sudden death blind taste-offs at Greenwood Ridge Winery where Novice Awards, Individual Grand Championships, and Professional Championships titles in singles and doubles categories await the conquerors. This year a "Wine Tasting workshop" is scheduled before the competition begins on Saturday to introduce neophite contestants to the fine art of blind tasting and get their taste buds and courage up for the main events. In blind tasting, contestants are handed glasses with a small pour of an unknown wine, and have only a few minutes tosniff, taste and spit, in order to identify the wine by grape varietal, vintage, and vineyard. The more right answer you get, the higher your accumulative score. Highest points wins the match, and a tie results in a sudden death taste-off.
